NavGaea Consulting Inc. was founded in 2017 with a clear mission: to bring world-class plant breeding expertise directly to the clients who need it most. The name says it all — NavGaea blends the Hindi word Nava (new) with the Greek Gaea (earth), capturing our commitment to innovation rooted in the land.
Born from a genuine passion for agricultural research and development, we exist to give seed companies, growers, and biotech innovators access to the kind of deep, specialized expertise that is rarely available outside of large institutions. We believe that the right knowledge, applied at the right time, can transform an ag research program — and that is exactly what we set out to deliver.
Today, NavGaea operates across most Canadian provinces with a growing portfolio of registered varieties and a track record of supporting clients from early-stage breeding programs through to full regulatory registration.

Hari Nair, PhD, PAg, is a CSGA Recognised Plant Breeder and our founder. He obtained his PhD at the University of Idaho in Plant Science. He is a Research and Development professional with international experience in leading plant breeding and biotech research teams across cultures and geographical areas. With over 25 years of progressive experience in plant breeding, research management and product development across crops, Hari is well placed to help our clients with their plant breeding, crop product development and regulatory requirements.
