Hemp Plot Trials

Cultivar registration is complicated everywhere — including Canada. NavGaea designs and runs replicated field trials that produce the agronomic data you need: RCBD design across multiple Saskatchewan locations, documented to LOAC and CSGA Form 300 requirements.

  • RCBD trial design — 4 locations, 3 replicates (2026 season)
  • Plot management and crop monitoring
  • Data collection, quality control, and analysis
  • LOAC and CSGA Form 300 documentation
  • Results reporting and cultivar recommendations

Registered Seed Establishment Services

Canada has approximately 200 CSGA-Recognised Plant Breeders. Most work for public institutions or multinational seed companies. NavGaea’s is independent — and one of very few who also operates a Registered Seed Establishment.

  • Pre-Breeder and Breeder seed production (direct)
  • Foundation, Registered, and Certified seed management
  • Seed supply chain management across generations
  • Small lot seed cleaning (Vistasort optical colour sorter)
  • High-generation and Certified seed sales

Regulatory & Compliance

Canada’s seed regulatory environment spans multiple agencies — CFIA, the Plant Breeders’ Rights Office, and crop-specific recommending committees — each with distinct timelines and compliance standards. NavGaea navigates all of them.

  • Seeds Act and Seeds Regulations compliance advisory
  • Plant Breeders’ Rights consulting and application navigation
  • DUS qualification assessment and trial design for PBR applications
  • CFIA PBR inspector field visit facilitation
  • IP strategy guidance (PBR vs. utility patent vs. trade secret)

Research Management

Rigorous variety evaluation and breeding trial work demands both scientific expertise and operational discipline. NavGaea designs, executes, and manages field research programs on behalf of clients — from protocol to final report — so you get defensible data without building an in-house team.

  • Variety evaluation trial design and execution
  • Breeding trial management
  • Trial site selection and management
  • Data collection, quality control, and analysis
